SCHOOL OF COLOUR

This projects looked at designing a Steiner school in Bethnal Green for students aged 4-7. Steiner is a educational format based on the educational philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, the founder of Anthroposophy. The pedagogy focuses on four key elements intellectual, artistic, and practical skills in an integrated and holistic manner. Each day has a clear programme of play time, ring time, snack time, outside time and then ends with story time. My building uses coloured light to help enhance each element of the day. As the sun moves around the building the interior colour of the spaces alter to fit the goals of the programme e.g yellow light will shine throughout the building during snack time as the main goal for this time is to enhance the child's communication and social skill. The colour yellow helps to encourage confidence, friendliness, creativity, self-esteem.

WELSH INDEPENDENCE BOTHY

The Bothy is designed to stand as a cultural and vocal point for welsh independence protesters by using music, poetry and history to bring people together. The interior houses a small museum that educates people on the historical and and modern context of the Welsh Independence movement and why it is vital to us as a nation. The design of the bothy uses steel as a nod to welsh industries with the structure taking over space from surrounding buildings.
